Things to do in Amsterdam
The Westergas area
The Westergas Cultural Park is a vibrant destination offering loads of fun experiences. Once a gasworks complex, it has been transformed into a dynamic hub for art, entertainment, and leisure. You can explore galleries, catch live performances, and attend film screenings at the Westergasfabriek and others. These are our favorite stops:
Fabrique des Lumières. The work of Dutch masters like Van Gogh and Rembrandt is brought to life! The work of history’s greatest artists, is casted in a digital ode of image and sound. They’re open daily from 10 AM. Book your ticket and time slot via their website.
The Sunday market. Every Sunday, Westerpark offers a market with a vibrant array of handmade crafts, artisanal goods, and delicious food from local vendors. With live music adding to the lively atmosphere, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to discover unique treasures and enjoy a taste of the local culture on a Sunday outing.
TonTon club, for some fun and games. For the 10 years TonTon Club has been around now, they’ve had one goal: make adults play more. That’s what you do at this (vintage) arcade game hall. Enter their world full of coloured lights, towering Jengas, fanatical faces and happy cheering.
IJscuypje, our favorite stop for ice cream! Our favorite: chocolate sorbet and stroopwafel. Still need some convincing? Have a look at their instagram page to see all their flavors.
Westerpark itself is a destination as well. On sunny days, the park fills up with locals who’re meeting up for drinks, a barbecue and some games. You should join them if you can! Just pop by the Conscious Cafe for some snacks and drinks and find yourself a sunny spot.
